After a commendable career as a player Bert became very active as a builder.

He refereed and coached in the Brampton Minors before taking over as Referee-in-Chief in 1964. He was appointed Supervisor of Referees in 197' and at the same time became very active with the national Clinic Program. He found time to serve on the Ontario Minor Lacrosse Association executive for eight years, attaining the position of president.

He was a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Board of Governors in 1974 and 1975.
