Don Matheson was one of the most popular players. His career, from 19'8 to 1948, was with the Vancouver, British Columbia, Burrards, during which they won the Mann Cup in 1945 and 1949 and were finalists in 1940.

He set many records and was the Western rookie of the year in 19'8, winner of the Maitland trophy in 1944, and was the recipient of the Mike Kelly Medal for the Mann Cup series MVP in 1949.
