1976 Wilson Willis Patchell 287Willis Patchell - was a great defenceman with the Salmonbellies in an era when the game flourished.

A rugged type whose job for many years was to contain Newsy Lalonde (Charter) - an assignment he relished. He had great speed and a never-say-die attitude. Willis played for the professional Salmonbellies of 1914 but did not return to the game until 1918 because of the war.

He was on the Salmonbellies Professional World Championship Teams in 1914, 1918, 1921, 1922, and 1923. He was then forced out of the game when the pro league disbanded until he was reinstated to the amateur ranks in 1927. He helped the Salmonbellies win the Mann Cup that year, giving the team the right to represent Canada in the 1928 Olympics. However, due to his previous pro status, he was unable to participate in the Olympics.

He played in the 1929, '30, '32, '33, and 1934 Mann Cup Championships before retiring.
