Jim Kavanagh - Big Jim, as he was known, was a perennial all-star with the Montreal Shamrocks Club.

He was the captain of the Shamrocks when they dominated field lacrosse from 1900 to 1910.

He was on several Minto Cup teams, and continued his involvement with the game after he retired by coaching and refereeing.
