2004 George Hayes 503George "Scoop"Hayes" started playing the game in 1933 at the age of twelve.

He played for St. Helen's C.Y.O. in 1934, Roden A.C. in 35, Brock Grads from 36 to 38, and Mimico in 18.  He played on minor championship teams in 1935 and 1937.

In 1938 he had spinal memingitis and was told that he would never walk again.  However he overcame it and continured to play the game.

 

Between 1942-47, George managed to play in four Mann Cups, winning three. in 1942, he won the Mann Cup with the Mimico-Brampton Combines and in 1943 and 1947 with the Mountaineers.

After his playing career he bacame a referee and remained involved for the next 14 years in the O.L.A.
