Walter Smart spent the better part of 61 years dedicated to the game of lacrosse.

He was born in Kenilworth, Ontario and played in the Orillia, Brampton, and Fergus areas. He was coach, manager, and trainer in the Brampton Minors from 19'9 to 1946 before taking over the Junior team - leading them to many Minto Cups.

He spent eight years as a referee and then became secretary of the Lacrosse Oldtimers Association of Ontario.
