"of Toronto, Ont., was an exceptional player and he played most of his career with the Brampton Excelsiors. He was an excellent draw man and was consistently one of the top scorers, both in junior and in senior. In junior, he played lacrosse in the summer with the Brampton Excelsiors and off season at the University of Toronto. While playing junior in Brampton, Don was often the captain and in 1959 won a Minto Cup and was a finalist in 1961. Also in 1961, he was brought up from junior to play in the Mann Cup for Brampton. As a junior, he was among the top scorers and won a scoring title in 1962. After moving to senior, he continued his scoring prowess and in 1965 he was picked up by the Peterborough team and helped them win a Mann Cup that year. Over his career, Don won a number of individual honours: In 1961, he won the McIntosh Trophy as the Most Valuable player in the Junior A Series. In 1962 he won the Advertiser Trophy as the leading scorer in the Junior A Series. In 1964, after moving to the senior ranks, he won the Bucko McDonald Trophy as the scoring leader and followed up the following year as the second leading scorer .
