Bernard "Coco' Blanchard had an illustrious career as a player that spanned 20 years before turning to the development aspects of the game.
In 1969 he single-handedly reorganized the Quebec Minor Association and in just four years it had grown to over 3,000 members. The fans in Montreal honoured him with a night at the Forum.
He was founder of the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League and became coach of the Montreal Club that boasted his four sons as players and Jacques Plante, the All-Star N.H. L goalie.
Coco also translated the rule book, refereed games, and helped in training referees.
