Norm Kowalyk was known as Mr. Lacrosse in Victoria from 1968 to 1976.
He held the Shamrock Club together at a time when its fortunes were at a low ebb. He was trainer, manager, fundraiser, and anything else until he passed away at the very young age of 47. His dedication was not in vain, his beloved Shamrocks captured the Mann Cup the next year.
A trophy honouring his name is awarded annually to the Executive of the Year in the Western Lacrosse Association.
