Robert Dickinson played field lacrosse for a number of Vancouver teams.

He became coach of the North Shore Indians in the start of Box Lacrosse, thus beginning a long and outstanding coaching and executive career ranging from Minto Cup clubs to Senior teams. He coached the B.C. All Stars against the USA in the first Lally Cup series and helped form the North Burnaby, British Columbia, Box Lacrosse Association.

Les was also instrumental in forming the Burrards Club in 19'7 and coached them until 1940.
