Fred C. Waghorne Sr. was a tireless workeer and one of the great defenders of amateur sport.

An excellent referee at the turn of the century, he later served on the executive of the Ontario Lacrosse Association and was also a member of the Riversides, Tecumseh's and the Irish Canadian Clubs.
